London Blues vs. Mersey Reds: Carabao Cup Final
Published:For the past six months, we’ve had our eyes glued to the Carabao Cup, and after back-to-back nail-biting games, we’ve now reached the end of a fantastic season. On February 25th, it all reaches a rousing finale at Wembley Stadium where Chelsea goes head-2-head against historic rival Liverpool to determine who will be this year's cup winner. This will be the second time in three years that the two butt heads for the prestigious title and soccer betting fans on both sides are eager to settle the score.
Now let’s take a brief dip at the history behind the league, the rivalry between the competing champs and where to put your money when you’re ready to bet on your prediction of the Carabao Cup champion.
The Rise of Champions
The EFL Cup, better known these days as the Carabao Cup, came to be in 1960 and is the most prestigious tournament the English Football League (EFL) hosts, not only allowing all EFL clubs to compete but also Premier League clubs. As a result, the Carabao Cup sees some of the best teams in English football go head to head in hopes of winning the title.
This year has a sense of déjà vu showcasing two of English soccer’s juggernauts, Chelsea and Liverpool, taking the field at Wembley. They’ve seen their fair share of Carabao Cup success in the past with Chelsea winning the cup an impressive five times, while Liverpool has a whopping nine cup wins to their name.
But this isn’t the first time The Blues and Reds have clashed to lift the trophy. Just 2 years ago the two went H2H in the 2021 Carabao Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. The game resulted in a deadlock, with neither team able to break the ice, even after extra time. The match then went on to a tense penalty shootout, ending 11 - 10, with Liverpool snagging the win.
This year's tournament has been no less thrilling and the final is bound to follow suit. Liverpool have won every single clash this tournament has thrown at them, with Chelsea only losing once in the first leg of the semi-final. Both teams are primed to give it their all come Sunday and are set to present an explosive finale when they take to the field to settle the score.

Both teams were demolishing their rivals with both teams boasting impressive win-streaks, that is, until they came up against one another!
The match provided a grim look at what might transpire for Chelsea fans come February 25th. Liverpool absolutely walloped Chelsea 4-1 at Anfield on January 31st.
What does that say about the upcoming match? Could Wembley’s neutral soil be the factor Chelsea needs to bag the win? Or are we set to see extra time and/or penalties determine who lifts the trophy? We find out when these two juggernauts lock horns again.
