There are few awards in the world of golf that are more prestigious than the Masters’ green blazer. Played every year in early April at the Augusta National Golf Club, the US Masters oozes with tradition and history. It has seen champions come and go since its inception in 1934, and has often been a testing ground for new blood to prove themselves as worthy champions.

This year we see Scheffler return with a burning desire to reclaim the blazer after losing the first place title to Jon Rahm, who demolished the competition by four strokes in 2023. But that’s not to say that there’s a clear winner in sight, it’s anyone’s game, as we learned from dark horse Hideki Matsuyama when he took home the blazer in 2021.

The 88th US Masters promises to bring some high stakes golfing betting action to the world, and it’s up to the keen eyed punter to decipher the odds and make the bet that’ll have them winning big by the end of the tournament. Let’s take a look at the competition, the course, and what the odds say about who will win the blazer at this year’s tournament.

The Augusta National Golf Club

The US Masters is defined by its home, the Augusta National Golf Club. Located in Augusta, Georgia, its meticulously manicured fairways and greens stretch across 365 acres of rolling terrain. Designed by Alister MacKenzie and Bobby Jones, its layout challenges even the most seasoned players with its strategic bunkers, undulating greens, and treacherous water hazards like Rae's Creek.

The course has undergone a lot of tinkering over the years. Charles Price, who wrote the book on the US Masters, stated “Augusta National was never the most revolutionary design in America, but it was certainly the most evolutionary." commenting on the constant changes to the course.

This year we see the course extended to 7555 yards after the second hole (affectionately known as Pink Dogwood) was extended by 585 yards. It’s anyone’s guess as to how this will affect the overall performance of the competitors, but we can’t wait to find out!

US Masters Golf Odds

You won’t be surprised to discover that Scottie Scheffler is the favourite to take home the win at the 88th US Masters. He already has a green blazer under his belt (or in this case, over his shoulders) and his performance this year has been nothing short of outstanding, winning both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship. As a result, odds are 5.00 that he’ll once again claim the green blazer.

Despite Scheffler’s stellar performance, Jon Rahm is still the current US Masters champion. We haven’t seen much out of Rahm in tournaments this year so it’s hard to say how he will perform. Both he and Roy McIlroy, who’s performance this year has left a lot to be desired, have odds of 13.00 to claim the title.

Lower down the line is Xander Schauffele, who came second in the Players Championship, with odds of 19.00. Jordan Spieth, who won the blazer in 2015, and Brooks Koepka both have odds of 21.00, whilst 2021 Masters winner Hideki Matsuyama has odds of 26.00

A bet that's not to be taken lightly is the return of none other than Tiger Woods. The legend has claimed the green blazer an incredible five times! With odds of 126.00, the punter who believe the champ still has it stands to make a fortune!

If it’s one thing that sports betting on the US Masters has shown us, it’s that anyone can take home the blazer, regardless of what the odds have to say. There’s no reason why Matsuyama couldn’t make the magic happen again, which could mean some serious profit for the faithful punter. It’s up to you to decide where your money is going to go, so check your stats, watch your matches, and do the math to figure out who you think will be the 88th US Masters champion.
